The incident occurred around 5:10 p.m., as Powers was riding his bike on the designated bike path and attempted to cross Polecat Road toward the park. It was at this moment that a vehicle driven by Margie Baldwin, 91, of Springfield, collided with Powers.

The crash resulted in the tragic loss of Isaac Powers, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Margie Baldwin, the driver of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was treated on-site. The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is currently investigating the incident, though details regarding the speed at which the vehicle was traveling have not been released.
The intersection where the crash occurred lies just outside the village limits in Miami Township. Although the speed limit sign near the site of the crash indicates a speed limit of 25 mph, it remains unclear where that speed limit coverage ends, as there are no further speed limit signs posted heading northbound from Ellis Park into Clark County. According to Ohio law, the maximum speed limit for rural county and township roads is 55 mph.
