Shay Sullivan’s Legacy of Dedication
Shay Patrick Sullivan, a devoted husband, father, and son, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Plaistow, NH. Born on July 6, 1978, in Methuen, MA, Shay’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to education and his profound love for his family.
A Passionate Educator and Mentor
After earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UMass Amherst, Shay embarked on a career in teaching. He began as a reporter for the Longboat Key Observer and later pursued a master’s degree in education from UMass Lowell. For 14 years, he served as an English teacher at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School in Haverhill, where he found immense joy in guiding and inspiring young minds. His dedication to education extended beyond the classroom, as he proudly served as President of the teacher’s union, mentoring and shaping the lives of countless students.
A Loving Family Man
Shay’s love for his wife, Gabriella, and their precious daughter, Savannah, was at the heart of his existence. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and he cherished every moment with them. Savannah, his daughter, brought immeasurable joy and light to his life.
Embracing His Passions
Beyond his teaching career, Shay was an active member of the Haverhill Inner City Boxing Club, where he merged his love for training and teaching. The sport of boxing brought him great happiness and fulfillment.
Fondly Remembered
Shay leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration, deeply impacting the lives of his family, friends, and the countless students he touched throughout his career. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gabriella, his adored daughter, Savannah, and his extended family members.
Funeral Arrangements and Donations
A funeral service will be held on June 20, 2023, at 11:00 am at the North Parish of Unitarian Universalist Church in North Andover. Interment will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover.
