He pursued dentistry, obtaining degrees from Georgetown University School of Dentistry and St. Francis College in New York. During World War II, he served in the United States Army, eventually attaining the rank of captain.

Dr. Blatt’s passion for dentistry led him to serve the Hillcrest Heights community for over 35 years. From 1966 to 1984, he served as the director of the general practice residency program at Providence Hospital and held the position of chairman of the Department of Dentistry. He was also an esteemed instructor in the general practice residency program at Prince George’s General Hospital. In 1991, after a long and fulfilling career, he retired from dentistry.

Leadership and Contributions

Dr. Blatt’s leadership extended beyond his dental practice. He served as the president of the American Society of Dentistry for Children’s D.C. metropolitan chapter, showcasing his commitment to pediatric dentistry. Additionally, he held the prestigious role of president of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, following a five-year term on the board.

Active Involvement in Community Organizations

Dr. Blatt was deeply committed to the well-being of the community and actively participated in various organizations. He served as the past president of the American Cancer Society’s branch in Prince George’s County, advocating for cancer awareness and support. Moreover, he played a significant role in the Hillcrest/Marlow Heights Lions Club, supporting community initiatives. He also served as the commander of American Legion Post 92, demonstrating his dedication to veterans’ causes.

Family and Legacy

Dr. Jesse Blatt is survived by his three children, Lauri Woroniecki of Columbia, Mitchell Blatt of Minneapolis, and Vicki Blatt of Durham, North Carolina. His sister, two granddaughters, and a great-grandchild also cherish his memory. The impact he made on his family, friends, and the community will be remembered with love and gratitude.
