Information about potential charges related to the crash has also not been disclosed, as the incident remains under investigation. The Gazette’s request for the 911 call recording was denied due to the ongoing investigation.
Severe Injuries and Hospitalization
Corey Hite was out for a jog when the accident occurred. He suffered severe injuries and had been hospitalized for the past couple of weeks. These injuries included a pelvis fracture, multiple skull fractures, lung and kidney damage, and brain swelling. A GoFundMe page was created on behalf of Hite’s family to help support them during this difficult time, raising over $4,600 by Monday afternoon.
Difficult Decision Made by Family
According to updates posted on a CaringBridge site by Hite’s family, they recently met with doctors to discuss his injuries and prognosis. It was determined that the brain injuries he sustained affected vital life functions, making it unlikely for him to return to a normal life. After much consideration, reflection, and prayer, the family made the heartbreaking decision to withdraw all life-sustaining interventions.
Corey Hite’s Passing Announced
Corey Hite was transferred to a hospice care unit closer to his family until he peacefully passed away on Sunday morning. The family shared the news of his death on the CaringBridge site, expressing deep sadness and stating that Corey had gained his wings.
