A Multifaceted Athlete and Scholar

Alexis’s journey began in Montoursville, where she excelled as an athlete in track and field, soccer, and basketball while attending Montoursville Area High School. Her dedication extended beyond the field, as she actively participated in YoungLife and Key Club. Pursuing higher education at Penn State University, Alexis found her passion for rugby, joining the Women’s Rugby team and forging lifelong friendships. Additionally, she thrived academically, earning both a bachelor’s degree in business management (2019) and a master’s degree in business analytics (2021) from Penn State’s esteemed Smeal College of Business.

A Professional Trailblazer

Alexis’s professional journey took her to AlphaSights in New York City as a client service team associate before joining the Webstaurant Store as a marketing data analyst. Her role allowed her to work remotely, enabling her to return to State College and actively engage in coaching and coordinating various rugby teams, including her beloved Penn State Women’s Rugby and the PA Girls Rugby program. Her dedication to both her career and the rugby community showcased her selfless nature and passion for empowering others.

A Light of Love and Laughter

Described as a loving daughter, sister, and selfless friend, Alexis had an extraordinary ability to bring joy to any occasion. Her witty sense of humor, contagious laugh, and radiant smile lit up every room she entered. Alexis effortlessly made friends and touched the lives of those around her. Known for her creativity, she delighted loved ones with personalized homemade greeting cards and nurtured her love for crafts, books, puzzles, and the TV show “The Office.” Additionally, Alexis cherished her role as a dog-sitter, especially for her four-legged companion, Cashew.

A Legacy of Love and Giving

Alexis is survived by her mother, Maria E. Weisser (Thomas Speicher); her father, Joseph G. Weisser (Sheri Dunahay); her sister, Nicole (Dylan) Casale; her brother, Austin; and her grandmothers, Dora Pioli and Janet Weisser. She leaves behind a vast network of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by her genuine spirit. Alexis’s legacy lives on through the Penn State Women’s Rugby community, where she made a lasting impact. In memory of Alexis, the family requests donations to be made to Penn State Women’s Rugby.

Honoring a Vibrant Life

A celebration of Alexis’s remarkable life will take place on Friday, June 2, at 2 p.m. in Penn’s Inn at the Bush Campus Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The outpouring of sympathy and support can be expressed through the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home’s website.
