In March 2019, Bristol County, Massachusetts was shaken by the sudden disappearance of Lisa Hazard, a vibrant young mother with a deep passion for life. Leaving her son’s father’s house in New Bedford, Lisa embarked on a journey to overcome her struggles with addiction and make a better life for herself and her child. However, what followed was a heartbreaking saga of unanswered questions and shattered hopes.
Described by her brother, Steven Hazard, as a charismatic and caring individual, Lisa was loved by many. Her determination to turn her life around led her to pack her bags that fateful night, intending to seek help at a drug rehabilitation center. But with no means of transportation, she relied on someone else for a ride, and that’s where the trail goes cold.
Despite her family’s initial belief that Lisa was safe in rehab, the passing months brought no contact from the 28-year-old. As important dates such as birthdays and Mother’s Day came and went without any word from Lisa, their concern turned into fear. Finally, on April 23, 2019, over a month after her disappearance, Lisa was reported missing to the Fall River Police.
Since that day, dedicated detectives from the Fall River Police Department have tirelessly worked on the case, determined to uncover the truth. Their efforts have been buoyed by the recent launch of the Missing Persons Project by the Bristol County District Attorney’s office. This initiative aims to utilize new forensic technologies, including DNA and genetic genealogy, to develop profiles and potentially solve cold cases like Lisa’s.
Steven Hazard, while hopeful, remains realistic about the situation. He recognizes the grim possibilities that his sister may have fallen victim to human trafficking or met an untimely fate due to her addiction. Nevertheless, he clings to the hope of closure and resolution, should Lisa’s whereabouts be discovered.
Lisa Hazard is described as a white woman, standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 110 pounds. At the time of her disappearance, she resided at 1334 South Main St. in Fall River. Lisa’s distinct features include long curly brown hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of the Aries zodiac symbol on her right wrist. She was last seen wearing black sweatpants and brown boots.
